We’re excited to announce an upgrade to our loot box functionality. The updated features enable the sharing of a wide range of game assets. You can now create your own custom loot boxes with little effort, complete with game items hand-picked for your players.

Features of the new Altura loot boxes

Loot boxes contain a random assortment of game items ready to be used inside your games. They are typically offered as rewards for in-game achievements or purchased through NFT marketplaces.

The variety of the loot boxes, as well as the diversity of game assets contained within, can influence player engagement considerably. That’s why, with the latest updates, we enable designing loot boxes that are versatile.

No limit — create a universe of loot boxes.

There’s no limit to the number of loot boxes you can create for your game. You can also fill each loot box with as many game items as you desire — be it accessories, armor, weapons, or cosmetics.
Every single box can represent its own custom aspect of fun and adventure to maintain player interest and provide a sense of achievement.

What about the rarity?

To heighten anticipation and suspense when opening a loot box, you can make some game items rarer than others. Altura lets you set the number of each NFT in a loot box, enabling you to define different rarities for each asset.

Multi-token standards, one loot box

You can add an extra dimension of variety to your loot boxes by mixing NFT items tokenized using ERC-721 and ERC-1155. Any number of game items using these two standards can coexist within a single loot box created using Altura.

ERC-721 is a standard for creating NFTs, where each item is unique and cannot be replaced with another. This is useful for creating game assets that are intended to be one-of-a-kind, such as rare trading cards, unique characters, or special weapons.

On the other hand, the ERC-1155 standard is used to define both fungible tokens and NFTs in one smart contract. It reduces gas fees when minting game assets and is cost-efficient in terms of transactions because you can batch multiple token types in one transaction. ERC-1155 allows for the creation of a wider variety of game items, such as common equipment, in-game currencies, resources, and other stackable assets.
