The next generation of community and developer-made lootboxes are here. With the launch of Altura’s lootboxes, anybody can create their own loot box and choose what items can be received from the lootbox!
You can think of a lootbox like a mystery box, where there are items within the lootbox, and there is a random chance you will get one of the items. These types of lootboxes/mystery boxes are common within many games, but Altura is opening the process to anyone through NFTs.
Traditionally, lootboxes within games lack transparency and users are unaware of the actual processes determining the results of the lootbox. Altura is changing this. Users will have a transparent sense of the probabilities of what items they will receive, and will truly own that item! This ownership is certified, as it is in the form of an NFT held by the user. This means that the user is in full control of their items and then can freely trade it on the Altura marketplace.
The way lootboxes will work on the Altura marketplace is through a key system. To unlock a lootbox it will require a key specific to that lootbox collection. These can be bought and then used to open the lootbox. Once opened the user will receive an NFT from the lootbox into their wallet. This process has been designed to be both simple for the buyers of lootboxes and for the developers creating and selling the lootboxes.
Additionally, lootboxes are an excellent source of revenue for many developers, not just in a gaming sense. From specialized art drops to famous movie clips from a studio, NFT lootboxes can revolutionize how projects look to build hype and revenue on their platforms. The mystery which comes with the opening of a lootbox is well complemented with the fact the user will personally own the content or item after the opening. This will entice people to not only pay more attention to the project, but have the satisfaction to know that their items are truly safe with them.
